How to check the bubble phenomenon and solutions after curing of silicone potting glue

2023-10-20

Bubble problems in adhesive products are a common phenomenon in products in this industry. To prevent the occurrence of bubbles, effective and controllable inspection standard methods must be formulated. Today I will share with you how to check whether the bubbles are completely eliminated after the silicone potting adhesive is completely cured.

colloidal surface

After the silicone potting glue is completely cured, if there are bubbles on the surface of the colloid, the symptoms will usually include bubbling, pits, and pitting. They can be easily detected in an environment with strong light. If there are bubbles on the surface that are not eliminated, this situation will lead to a decrease in the protective properties of the silicone potting glue, such as moisture-proof, waterproof and other properties. Especially in environments with high moisture vapor, the service life will be shorter. At the same time, if bubbles exist on the surface, over time With prolonged impact and environmental alternation, the colloid may crack in advance, leading to a series of application problems.

Inside the colloid

After the silicone potting glue is completely cured, there are no bubbles on the surface. Does it mean that the curing is normal? In fact, the bubbles inside the colloid are also a key factor affecting the performance. For example, the colloid solidifies quickly and the internal bubbles are not discharged in time before the surface forms a skin, which will result in a smooth and beautiful surface. However, the bubbles inside the colloid are densely packed, so check the silicone potting glue bubbles. Another important point is to use a blade to cut through the colloid for inspection and confirmation. There are bubbles in the colloid, which have a greater impact on physical and electrical properties, such as voltage resistance, voltage breakdown, etc.

solution

1. After the AB component of the silicone potting glue is dispensed and stirred evenly, it is recommended to use vacuum degassing before proceeding with the glue filling operation;

2. In order to prevent more new bubbles from being generated during the glue filling operation, especially for products with high viscosity or fast curing, the height and intensity of glue filling should be controlled during glue filling;

3. Under no-vacuum conditions, choose products with good self-defoaming properties, so that the colloid can completely defoam within the operating time.
