Why does thermal conductive silicone grease have no adhesive properties? Will it fall off?

Why is there no adhesiveness? Will it fall off?

The main function of thermal grease is to fill gaps, because there are small gaps between the heating element and the radiator, and air is trapped in these gaps. Air is a poor conductor and reduces the performance of the radiator. After using thermal conductive silicone grease, the heating element and the radiator are fully contacted to enhance the heat dissipation effect.

The main raw materials of thermal conductive silicone grease are organic silicone and some materials with heat dissipation properties. These materials have no adhesive properties, but have good viscosity and will not detach from the surface of the substrate.


Why doesn’t thermal conductive silicone grease fall off?

Strong stickiness. Thermal conductive silicone grease is a material with relatively good viscosity. It is applied to the surface of the substrate and will not fall off easily. To remove it, you need to wipe it with a paper towel or use a scraper to remove it.

The construction is thin. Thermal conductive silicone grease only needs to be applied with a thin layer to achieve the thermal conductivity effect. Thin silicone grease has stronger adhesion and is not easy to fall off.

Base material fastening. Thermal silicone grease is applied between the heating element and the heat dissipation facility. The two need to be tightened with screws to achieve full contact. In this case, they will not fall off at all.
