Why do bubbles appear after two-component sealants are cured? How to avoid it?

2024-06-06

Sealant is divided into two types: single component and two-component. If two-component sealants are not careful during construction, some bubbles will appear on the surface after curing. These bubbles have nothing to do with quality. In fact, not only two-component sealants are prone to bubbles after curing, but also two-component potting glues are prone to bubbles after curing. Only by understanding the reasons can it be avoided.

Reasons for bubbles in two-component sealants:

1. The appearance of bubbles in two-component sealants during the curing stage is only related to the operation process. Air is brought into the stirring process, and bubbles are easy to appear after curing. Some sealants have good defoaming function after curing, which can reduce the appearance of bubbles after curing. For example, TENSAN focuses on the research of sealants and provides customized sealant application solutions. It has a wide range of uses and can be applied to new energy, military, medical, aviation, shipbuilding, electronics, automobiles, instruments, power supplies, high-speed rail and other industries.

2. If it is prevented from curing in a heated environment, the curing speed is too fast, and the shrinkage rate will increase at this time, which is easy to cause bubbles.

How to avoid bubbles in two-component sealants:

1. To avoid bubbles after curing, you can prevent degassing in a vacuum degassing cabinet after injection, so that bubbles can be avoided after curing.

2. During the stirring process, be careful not to bring in air and keep the speed uniform. In this way, even if there are small bubbles, they will be carefully eliminated during the curing process, and the surface will present a smooth film after curing.

Will bubbles appear after the one-component sealant is cured?

The one-component sealant is installed in a sealed tube, and the glue liquid is in a paste state. It can be directly applied without a stirring process, so there will be no bubbles after curing.

Whether it is a one-component sealant or a two-component sealant, it should be constructed strictly in accordance with the operating process during the construction stage. If you encounter something you don’t understand, you can consult professionals, which can avoid many problems. In particular, during the preparation of the adhesive, the preparation ratio cannot be changed without authorization, otherwise it is easy to cause "curing poisoning" phenomenon, and it will also cause a large number of bubbles on the surface, affecting various properties.
