Silicone potting compound is a potting material with organic silicon polymer as the main component, and it has the following significant advantages:
• Excellent high and low temperature resistance: The working temperature range is as wide as -60℃ to 200℃, maintaining stable material performance and not degrading due to temperature changes.
• Good waterproof and moisture-proof effect: After curing, it forms a tight sealing layer, effectively preventing moisture and humidity from eroding.
• Strong electrical insulation performance: It has high insulation resistance, low dielectric constant, and low dielectric loss, suitable for protecting electronic components.
• High chemical stability: It has good resistance to acids, alkalis, salts, and other chemical substances.
• Elasticity and shock absorption: The material is relatively soft after curing, which can absorb mechanical stress and protect sensitive circuits.
• Excellent weather resistance: It is not prone to yellowing during long-term outdoor use, and its lifespan can reach more than 20 years.
Precautions for purchasing potting
• For applications requiring high and low temperature resistance and moisture resistance (such as new energy vehicles and 5G base stations), silicone potting are the preferred choice.
• For applications requiring high mechanical strength and infrequent maintenance (such as sensors and transformers), epoxy resin potting can be considered.
• For applications requiring rapid curing or those that are cost-sensitive, polyurethane potting can be selected.
• Thermal conductivity: High-power equipment requires products with high thermal conductivity (such as silicone potting with a thermal conductivity of 0.6-3.5 W/m·K).
• Curing time: Silicone adhesives cure relatively slowly (8-24 hours), while polyurethane adhesives cure faster.
• Hardness and strength: Silicone adhesives have lower hardness, while epoxy resin adhesives have high hardness but weak resistance to thermal shock.
• The surface to be potted needs to be cleaned to ensure that it is free of oil and dust.
• Two-component adhesives must be mixed strictly according to the ratio and thoroughly stirred to avoid filler sedimentation.
• Note the effect of curing temperature; lower temperatures will extend the curing time.
