What are the characteristics of CPU thermal pad?

CPU thermal pad is used for bonding heat sink and other power consumption semiconductors. These tapes have strong adhesive strength and low thermal resistance, which can effectively replace thermal grease and mechanical fixing. It is a kind of thermally conductive material synthesized by a special process with silicone as the base material, adding various auxiliary materials such as metal oxides. In the industry, it is also known as thermally conductive silicone pad, thermally conductive silicon film, soft thermally conductive gasket, thermal conductivity silicone gaskets, etc.

The following points are required:
1. The material is soft, the compression performance is good, the thermal insulation performance is good, the adjustable range of the thickness is relatively large, suitable for filling the cavity, the two sides have natural viscosity, strong operability and maintainability;
2. The main purpose of selecting thermally pad is to reduce the contact thermal resistance generated between the heat source surface and the contact surface of the heat sink. The thermally conductive pad can fill the gap of the contact surface well;
3. Because air is a poor conductor of heat, it will seriously hinder the transfer of heat between the contact surfaces, and installing a thermally conductive silicone sheet between the heat source and the radiator can squeeze the air out of the contact surface;
4. With the supplement of the thermal conductive silicone sheet, the contact surface between the heat source and the radiator can be better and fully contacted, so that the face-to-face contact can be achieved. The temperature response can reach the smallest possible temperature difference;
5. The thermal conductivity of the thermally pad is adjustable, and the thermal conductivity stability is better;
6. The workmanship gap of the thermal pad on the structure is bridged, reducing the workmanship requirements of the radiator and the heat dissipation structure;
7. Thermally pad has insulating properties (this feature needs to add suitable materials in the production);
8. Thermally pad has the effect of shock absorption and sound absorption;
9. Thermally pad has the convenience of installation, testing and reusability.
